Since our launch in May 2024…
We have showcased an impactful living mural, “Stories of Resilience,” exhibited in Bangkok, Thailand under the support of Association for Women’s Rights in Development (AWID). Our mural, created in collaboration with local artists and community members, served as a dynamic platform for individuals to creatively express their experiences related to sexuality, bodily autonomy, gender diversity, and the fight against systemic injustices during The 15TH AWID International Forum . It captured the resilience of marginalized groups, showcasing their strength in overcoming adversity. By inviting community contributions, the mural fostered dialogue and collective identity, emphasizing the power of personal narratives to inspire change.
We have successfully conducted a community pad drive fundraiser ahead of the International Day of the Girl Child 2024. Through this initiative, we mobilized resources to provide free menstrual products to 41 adolescent school-going girls, directly addressing period poverty and reducing the risk of transactional sex for pads. This enabled 41 girls to return to school at the end of recess with dignity, allowing them to focus on their education and avoid the #TripleThreat of teenage pregnancy, early marriage, and school dropout.
Through the above initiative we also delivered Menstrual Health Management Education were our youth champions covered proper sanitary pad use, emphasizing the importance of timely changing, which helps girls maintain good menstrual hygiene, prevent infections, build confidence, and stay focused on their education without interruptions and school dropouts.
Moreover, we have provided comprehensive, age-appropriate sexual and reproductive health (SRH) education to 59 adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) through community funding equipping our beneficiaries with essential knowledge and fostered a supportive community for open discussions about their reproductive health.
Importantly, Equality Edge has also offered capacity building to our local youth champions and a platform to positively impact their communities. By engaging them in community development initiatives, we have empowered them to become advocates for change, fostering leadership skills and encouraging civic involvement.
