About Us

Empowered communities making informed choices and enjoying equitable opportunities,

To empower communities through comprehensive sexual and reproductive health education, sustainable livelihoods and economic empowerment training, climate resilience initiatives, and advocacy for good governance, fostering informed decision-making and facilitating equitable access to opportunities.

Intersectional Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (ISRHR) is a key pillar at Equality Edge, dedicated to addressing the diverse Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights needs of underserved communities in Kakamega County. By offering inclusive, tailored education for individuals with varying identities, ISRH aims to dismantle systemic barriers through initiatives that include customized educational programs, advocacy for equitable policies, and active community engagement. Through our efforts we hope to create a supportive environment that empowers individuals to exercise their rights, resulting in improved health outcomes, greater social equity, reduced stigma, and lasting systemic change in sexual and reproductive health and rights.

Sustainable Livelihoods and Economic Empowerment is the second core pillar of Equality Edge, aimed at helping communities achieve economic independence and stability through skills development and sustainable income-generating activities. This pillar focuses on marginalized individuals, especially those from rural areas, by providing entrepreneurship training, financial literacy education, and access to microfinance services. These programs seek to create long-term financial stability, reduce economic vulnerability, and enhance community well-being, ultimately fostering self-reliance and contributing to the socio-economic development of rural communities.

Climate Resilience is our third vital pillar, focusing on empowering communities to adapt to climate change while protecting their livelihoods and health. Through this pillar we promote climate-smart practices in agriculture and resource management. It also addresses the vulnerabilities of marginalized populations during climate crises, linking with Intersectional Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (ISRHR). Our approach includes education and advocacy to raise awareness, as we aim to foster resilience, ensuring that communities can thrive despite changing climatic conditions.

Good Governance is our fourth key pillar, focusing on promoting transparency, accountability, and community participation in governance. Our initiatives aim at empowering marginalized groups, to engage in decision-making through advocating for equitable resource allocation and strengthening the rule of law. We aim to create sustainable governance structures that reflect the needs of all community members, fostering a more just and inclusive society.

Our work is driven by the belief that every individual deserves the opportunity to thrive, and we are dedicated to creating equitable opportunities for all.
